Jobkeeper 2.0 eligibility updated
Today we share good news. We need it right? This year has been a killer and we still have a long road ahead of us.
The A-Team predicted this would happen and we’re glad the government listened.
This morning there were two major changes announced to the JobKeeper 2.0 program.
Turnover changes
Employers now only need to see a 30% reduction in turnover only in the September 2020 quarter.
(in the previous JobKeeper 2.0 announcement on the 21st of July you had to see the downturn in June 2020 AND September 2020 quarter)
From 28 September 2020, businesses and not-for-profits seeking to claim JobKeeper payments will be required to re-assess their eligibility with their actual turnover in the September quarter 2020.
Businesses and not-for-profits will need to demonstrate that they have met the relevant decline in turnover test in this quarter to be eligible for JobKeeper from 28 September 2020 to 3 January 2021.
For the period from 4 January to 28 March 2021, businesses will need to further reassess and demonstrate they have met the relevant decline in turnover test in the December quarter 2020 to remain eligible for the March quarter 2021.
Employee eligibility changes
New employees will be able to receive the payment, provided they were employed as at 1 July 2020.
The payment rates will still reduce to a tiered setup from 28 September.
To determine an employee's tier of payment from 28 September the reference period will be the two fortnightly pay periods prior to 1 March 2020 or 1 July 2020.
The period with the higher number of hours is to be used for employees who were eligible at 1 March 2020.
